Hi and welcome back to SavingsPinay! Today I will be sharing my 2022 Side Hustle Income Report.
This is the third time I will be sharing this report publicly. You can read my 2020 and my 2021 report. I want this to be an annual thing and look back at how my side income grew through the years.
For 2022, my side hustle income skyrocketed. The long-term project I had in 2021 renewed which provided me with a consistent extra income. I also booked a webinar series for the employees of an international bank. Wow! I remember writing down being invited in seminars as a goal before and now I’m already doing it. How good God is. Eternally grateful to God for blessing me with the skills and platforms that I have today.
So without further ado, let’s begin with the 2022 Side Hustle Income Report.
Before I move onto the breakdown, I would like to clarify that this side hustle income only includes those I get from opportunities because of the blog and the other things I do outside my regular job.
My Side Hustle Income Streams
It’s great to have more than one source of income.
Having different side hustle income streams enabled me to:
- Have sure extra money;
- Attend to my financial obligations; and
- Accomplish my bigger goals in life
Below are my side hustle income streams for 2022:
Consultancy
Let’s start with consultancy which is where the biggest chunk of my side hustle income is from for 2022. One of the long-term projects I had in 2021 renewed for another year which gave me steady extra income for the rest of the year.
As a consultant, I help businesses related to personal finance grow their audience following. I share advice, create content plans, and even execute some of the campaigns. If you need help as a business in the finance field, shoot me an email at izza@savingspinay.ph.
Paid Webinars/Speaking Engagement
If you are a long time reader of SavingsPinay.ph you know that I used to host weddings and events so I enjoy public speaking a lot. To be able to do what I love and get paid for it is such an A-MAZ-ING feeling.
I got invited for a number of webinars for 2022 but I only recorded those that were paid. What made this income bigger was getting a paid webinar series opportunity. I got booked to do five webinars for a single client. I also had two other paid speaking engagements for the year that completed the extra income I received.
For speaking engagements I include topic generation, creation of slides, and the actual execution of the webinar or face-to-face seminar in the price.
Should you be needing a speaker for your event or you want to recommend me to your HR for an employee wellness webinar, please feel free to email me at izza@savingspinay.ph. You can also visit my Invite Me as Speaker page.
Sponsored Posts
I’m very careful saying yes to sponsored posts because I don’t want SavingsPinay.ph readers to feel like everything I post are ads. I only say yes to sponsored posts that are valuable to my readers. For 2022, I only have two sponsored posts published.
Event Hosting
If you are a long time reader of SavingsPinay.ph you know that I used to host weddings and events so I enjoy public speaking a lot. To be able to do what I love and get paid for it is such an A-MAZ-ING feeling. I got the rare opportunity to get back to hosting through a friend. She asked me to host a year-end awarding ceremony related to her field.
I also do hosting so shoot me a message at izza@savingpinay.ph just in case you need one.
The Budget Template Notepad
August 2021 when I launched a Shopee shop with my very first product – The Budget Template Notepad. This is the printed version of The Budget Template online version I launched in November 2020.
Before 2021 ended I was able to get back my capital which is great news. I did not do much marketing about it in 2022 but still managed to sell some stocks. Grateful for those who bought it.
You can learn more about it HERE.
My Side Hustle Expenses
Now let’s go to the expenses. Please take note that I am only recording my business expenses here.
Email List Provider
An area where most of my side hustle money went to is my email list provider. Up until the second quarter of 2022 I was with the same email list provider I had in 2021. I stopped pursuing email marketing after I left my day job because my credit card got cancelled (part of the policy). Now that I have a new credit card, I’m looking for a new email list provider. I learned early in my blogging career how important having your own email list is.
SavingsPinay.ph Product Updates
Even though I stopped promoting the SavingsPinay shop I still did some expenses worth noting. For example, I already ordered copies of the new product I’ll be putting in the shop. Due to the many changes in my life, I wasn’t able to put time and effort into the shop which was disappointing.
Website Maintenance
Sometime in July my website went down. Whenever you visit it, you’ll get a notification that something is wrong. I had to pay for someone to fix the website. I’m not really technical so I knew I needed someone to help me make the website on again.
Video Editor
This payment is actually more of a bonus that I wasn’t able to give during Christmas. I am still amazed that I am at the point of my side hustle journey where I can outsource tasks to someone. I used to do everything on my own before.
By the way, I hope you can support my YouTube channel.
Domain and Hosting
Maintaining a blog comes with a price which means I have to pay both my domain and hosting renewal every year. Mine is at Php 4,200 annually. Not that expensive but not cheap as well.
Canva Yearly Plan
Finally got myself a Canva Pro account and it was sooooo worth it! If you are much into social media then Canva is a good investment.
Advertising Cost
I run some ads sometime in 2022 to support some sponsored posts.
My Side Hustle Income Plans for 2023
During my 2022 Mid-Year Review I made a list of things I need to do in order to grow my side hustle income before 2022 ends. They are as follows:
- I want to publish 100 blog posts
- Send more newsletter to my email list
- Follow a blog schedule
- Do Pinterest Marketing again
- Upload new YouTube videos weekly
- Work and release paid products
There’s no easy way to say this but I failed in all of that. Even though my side hustle income is at its best, I knew I could have done more.
2023 is starting a bit dry but I treasure the little progress I am making:
- Long-term project renewed and it’ll be our 3rd year of working together. They also increased my payment by 20%.
- I published some new blog posts over my personal lifestyle blog.
- I already filmed and hoped I could edit and release two new YouTube videos centered on my South Korea trip last January.
Here are my action items for my side hustle income in 2023:
Publish new blog posts
For 2022, my goal is to publish new blog posts.
Now that I’m permanently working from home I have much more time to spend blogging. One of the hinders I have in terms of getting things done is my screen time. I want to significantly reduce the time I spend browsing on my phone from social media, YouTube, to Netflix and refocus on the blog instead.
Get back to newsletter in Q2
I know the importance of email lists but I fail to send my newsletter consistently. I want 2023 to be the year where my engagement to my subscribers will be at its best. I want to serve my current tribe well, provide them with freebies at least once a month.
Follow blog schedule
Creating content is one of the hardest parts of blogging. I know this because I’ve been doing it for the past eight years maintaining two blogs with a full time job.
For 2023, I want to follow my blog schedule and get at least one (1) week ahead of blog posts and social media contents.
I will try to keep on posting with the same schedule of Tuesdays and Thursdays with Saturdays reserved for announcements, collaborations, and paid press releases.
Do Pinterest Marketing again
I used to do Pinterest Marketing in 2019 and I gained a lot of followers and traffic because of it. But in 2020 I forgot about it.
For 2023, I want to do Pinterest Marketing again. I will start pinning on Pinterest every time I have a new post including my Instagram and YouTube posts.
Upload new YouTube videos weekly
Now that I have already made a comeback in YouTube the next to do list is to upload consistently.
For 2023, my aim is to upload a YouTube video at least every week. I will be focusing on doing more finance related videos, bullet journals, and vlogs.
Work and Release more Paid Products
I will be working on more product launches this 2023. My main goal is to release my second physical product.
Final Notes from SavingsPinay
I am grateful for the extra income I earned in 2022. Most of my earnings come from those that require my service such as consultancy, paid webinar invitations, and sponsored posts.
I am excited about what 2023 is in store in terms of my side hustle income.
