Day 2- How to Plan for a Month
Monthly planning is all about structuring your yearly goals and putting them into their proper time frame. Since yearly planning will be very broad it is important to concentrate on your months to further enhance your way on productive living.
We only have 12 months in a year and this makes it easier to divide the tasks of the year to a more specific deadlines. How your month goes is crucial for how your how your year ends depend on it alone. Though you may start to plan for the year but failed to create a monthly goals it will be lesser for you take action for the necessities of 2015.
I personally love monthly calendars! Whenever I choose a planner my main deciding factor is how good and how wide the monthly calendar is. It is always nice to see the month at a glance and to quickly have a view on what will happen. I also love decorating my planner’s monthly calendar for I can just over do it without ruining the purpose.
Here are the top things you need to remember when planning on how your month will go.
#1. BLOCK OFF any special events and holidays
If a month includes a special event such as birthday, anniversary, monthsary, team building and party then make sure to block them off on the monthly planner. This will help you remember the said special date better. It is also ideal to take note of the holidays for you can use them to plan your “me time” and also how you’ll use your vacation leaves at work.
#2. ASK yourself the TOP 3 MUSTS DO’s of the Month
For sure you have that 3 things you just needed to do for the month. For some this will be more but I encourage just listing 3 things or issues that are critical and needs to be solved for the said month. This is to not create a sudden burn out on your part.
Your Top 3 Must Do’s can be of different categories. Just identify the major things.
#3. LIST some projects, routines or habits you want to take action to
Remember how in How to Plan for a Year post I mentioned about the different areas of our life where we can create goals. Then make sure to list your “Next Actions” and set a target month for you to just accomplish them. You can list your projects such as (maybe) starting your own blog, investing in stock market or reading a book and making an essay afterwards. Also list the routines and habits that you want to perfect for the month.
Ideas to Include in your monthly plan
- Your monthly grocery list
- Your monthly bills to pay
Another idea that could spice up your monthly plan is to associate them with a monthly theme. Your January could be “Resolution Month” wherein you will just go over things that you need to resolve so that month will go well. You can use the freebie “RESTART Checklist” for this. February can be your “Me Time Month” wherein you’ll focus in pampering yourself.
Keep your monthly plan fun and moving by further stretching them out for the week and daily planning next on Day 3 and Day 4 of the 14 Day Productive Living Program.
Hope this post helps.
