Welcome to the very first net worth update of 2021, the January 2021 Net Worth update.
How are you doing? If you’re new to SavingsPinay, you may be wondering why I post my net worth update every month. If you’re not you can easily skip to the next section.
The main reason why I do net worth updates is to stay accountable with my finances. As to why I share them publicly revolves mainly with my core objective of bridging the financial literacy gap among Filipinos one content at a time.
I hope you enjoy today’s post.
January 2021
The month of January 2021 went slow and lazy for me. I haven’t made any progress in terms of personal, blog, and business goals I’ve set for the year.
Financially, it was a good month though. I managed to follow my budget well specially in the variable expenses such as food and transportation allowance.
I also tracked my expenses at the start of the year which was something I failed to do before. I will usually get into tracking my expenses towards the middle of the year instead.
I also had the biggest expense so far in 2021 – I bought a refrigerator! We were left with no refrigerator to use for almost two weeks when my sister and her husband moved out. Since it was already mentioned last year and I have the money to saved up to spend, I bought one.
This has to be the biggest “budol” of 2021 so far. But I’m happy. The mere fact that I can buy an appliance now in straight cash feels like an accomplishment.
I had the option to use my credit card for monthly installment at 0% interest but I opted to do a one-time fee instead so I can save up more money for the item and so that I won’t have any liability every month.

January 2021 Blog Updates and Highlights
As I mentioned in the beginning I wasn’t as productive and active in terms of blogging for the month of January. I found it hard to transition from holiday mode to work mode.
I ended 2020 with 509 followers on Instagram and ballooned to 555 even though I wasn’t as posting. If you want quick money tips and other updates make sure you are following me on Instagram.
For January 2021, I only posted three posts. In case you missed any of my posts, here they are:

January 2021 Side Hustle Income Breakdown
For January 2021, I reached my first ever Google Adsense threshold. This is a combination of the amount I made in December 2020 which only reflected to my Adsense Account the following month.
I am now at 34% in my goal of $500 Google Adsense income.
Aside from Google Adsense, I don’t have any other sources of side hustle income for the month of January 2021. It was more of a dead month for me and I am wishing February will be better.
January 2021 Goals
I posted my 2021 goals not long ago and something I learned to be very effective in life is the power of measuring your progress.
Excited to share with you how I’ve been moving in terms of my goals for 2021.
Financial Goals
End with Php 500,000 net worth. We are starting the year slow so far. I suffered minimal loss in my net worth because of the first budol of the year – the ref! On a positive note, I have been following my budget well and tracking my expenses. So far, I still feel like I can manage accomplishing this goal. Since I already have my emergency fund checked, it really gives me that upper hand on my finances.
Grow Side Hustle Income to Php 100,000 net. Nothing much happened in January 2021 in terms of the side hustle income. As I mentioned in the beginning, the month felt slow and unproductive. I haven’t made any notable progress. Hope the month of February will be different.
Total Money Saved in Invested to Php 100,000 net. Currently I am investing 35% of my salary every month. What I did is actually set up my mobile banking to transfer x amount of money every first day of the month to my brokerage account and my mutual funds.
Finish my 2021 Sinking Funds. I’ve shared my 2021 Sinking Funds in this post and I actually have two categories – personal and work. So far, each of my sinking funds are in progress. I can’t write down specific progress yet.
Blog and Business Goals
Upload 2x/week on YouTube. YouTube is my biggest venture for 2021. I really want to publish new videos on my YouTube channel. For January 2021, I made progress in terms of planning what content to make and investing on materials and equipment I will need.
Blog 100 times. I haven’t been blogging that much for January 2021. So far, I only published three posts which is far from the target of at least 8 posts a month. Will work better next month.
Release at least three (3) Paid Products. I haven’t made much significant progress in terms of planning my next paid product coming this April. All I know is I already have idea what the said product will be. Will use the month of February for all the big rocks for this product launch so March will be more of marketing phase.
Get one (1) month ahead of blog posts. As mentioned, this area has been a work in progress pa din. The best I can do currently is one week in advance. At this rate, I’ve been able to write and publish all posts for the week over the weekend which allows me more time in the weekdays for other things.
Update blog Main Menus and Archive. Updating the blog Main Menus and Archive will not only allow a better reading experience to my readers. It will also help me identify what posts am I missing. I also want to use the Main Menus to offer my services.
Reach $500 Total Google Adsense Payout. In my 2020 Side Hustle Income Report you’ll know that Google Adsense os ome of the areas that I earn as a blogger. My main goal for 2021 is to continue earning well on it since it’s more of a passive one. So far, the earning I received is really good. The $170.53 came from my December 2020 and January 2021 combined earning. It’s definitely quite a lot which surprised me too. Hoping this amount will continue for the rest of the year.
Personal Goal
Read 20 books. For 2021, my target books to read is 20. I finished one book for January 2021 and would hope to continue on reading more next month.
January 2021 Net Worth Update
I’ve been tracking down my net worth since 2017 and it’s very motivating to see my progress. Although I started the year at a loss, I still made progress on my savings and investments.
Some things to note in my January 2021 Net Worth Update:
- Thanks to the medical allowance we have at work, there’s still money left in my savings account even though I bought a brand new refrigerator. I love bonuses like this.
- I paid for the renewal of my web hosting in January and also the monthly email list provider I pay.
Next Month’s Plans
First on the agenda this February is to cash out my Adsense income. For some reason my Google Adsense income has been going well. I’m already on my way for my first Adsense payout this 2021.
I also want to finally release the remaining episodes for the Season 1 of the SavingsPinay Podcast, a long-standing task since last year.
If you read my 2021 goals, you’ll know that publishing new YouTube videos is part my main objectives for the year. For February, my goal is to publish new video/s on my Youtube channel.
Since the month is passing by too quickly, I’d like to work on the product release I’ll be doing on April.
Lastly I want to continue on my good habit of following my budget and tracking my expenses every single day.
Money Goals this Month:
📌 Cash out my Adsense income
📌 Release remaining SavingsPinay Podcast content
📌 Publish video on YouTube
📌 Work on product release on April
📌 Continue following my budget
📌 Continue tracking my expenses
Final Notes from SavingsPinay
Thank you for reading the first net worth update of the year. I like to think that the month of February is just an extension of January. I am eager to do more next month.
