Welcome to my May 2019 net worth update.
It will be in the same layout as last month as I want the net worth updates to stay as simple as possible and reflect real numbers and situations.
May 2019
Can’t believe we are now on the month of June. It seems like yesterday when I was deciding on my goals for 2019. Now, the year is definitely halfway through.
How’s your first six months so far?
This calls for a new mid-year review post soon just to realign everything. Anyways, the month of May was filled with good and bad memories.
I had emotional breakdowns toward the beginning of the month to which I quickly recovered. All thanks to family, friends and church community I have.
I also did vote last May 13 for the national senatoriables and local city officials. The results has been in and now all we can do is hope and pray these elected officials really perform for the benefit of the Filipino people.
Other highlights from the month of May are as follows:
- Avengers End Game Free Block Screening at Power Plant Mall
- I got myself a MacBook Air! Yiii
- Attending Money Summit & Wealth Expo 2019
- Leaders’ Convergence at Victory Makati Alphaland
Check out the full story in my Goodbye April, Hello May 2019 post.
Money wise I earned worse in Google Adsense although I am closer now to reaching my second $100 threshold. I am hoping to reach it, hopefully by July.
I have a significant money added in my emergency since we had our mid-year bonus last May 15. I am now halfway through my Php 60,000 emergency fund goal! And still adding money to my investments.

May 2019 Blog Update and Highlights
For May 2019, I was only able to publish three posts which are too few compared to January.
Here are the posts for May 2019 in case you missed something:
- The Ultimate Beginners Guide on Index Funds in the Philippines
- April 2019 Net Worth Update
- How To Budget for Beginners : The Only Post You Need to Read
Blog Income Breakdown
In terms of traffic and income, May 2019 was way worse than last month! SavingsPinay is really lacking in terms of posts while I was able to catch up (thankfully) on Izza Glino Full with nine posts – the highest so far this year.
Overall I only made $14.46 in Google Adsense income. With my starting balance of $67.64 from April, I am now $19 away from my next payout! Yes!
May 2019 Goals
Something I am excited to include in this new monthly recap is the update on my goals. I believe one of the biggest mistake I made last year was not reviewing and taking notes of my progress. Thankfully, I learned my lesson and this 2019 I want to do it every month and be as transparent as possible.
The set up of my goals update is based on Sir Joe of Retiredby40.org. He is one of the top bloggers I follow.
Financial Goals
End 2019 with Php 250,000 net worth. For 2019, I want to be back as near as Php 250,000 in net worth. Even exceed the said target if possible. And this May 2019, I am 83% near the target.
Tithe 10% of whatever Money I Earn Every Month. This is a very important goal for me. Tithing is more than just a financial term. All of us are called to tithe and bring every tenth of whatever we have back to God. I am tithing way much this year though compared to what I did last year because I re-calculated how much I am earning in a month and in a year. I have cash benefits I receive that I need to tithe to like holiday pay, bonuses and allowances which I failed to include last year. So yep, whatever money I earn every month including the blog (or any side hustle) income will be tithed.
Php 60,000 emergency fund. This is the main goal for 2019. I’ve failed this countless times and I don’t want to fail at it again this year. For May, aside from the usual 10% from my monthly paycheck, I was able to add half of my bonus. With that, I am now 50% of the goal. Isn’t that cool?
Monthly Transpo and Food <4400. Again, I failed the goal of staying below Php 4,400 for my both my transportation and food allowance.
Maintain a Working Opportunity Fund. The Opportunity Fund is composed of every side hustle I do. My Opportunity Fund has a significant growth thanks to the March 30 wedding event I did. But, I had to pay for the MacBook Air this May so I used some of it together with some from my bonus. In total my working opportunity fund is now at Php 16,000 which I guess is not bad at all.
Monthly Phone Bill <1500. Another less Php 1500 bill payment for phone. Sweet! My postpaid plan will end this August and I am planning to cut it down instead of renewing.
Invest Php 48,000. For 2019, I plan to successfully maintain 30% saving rate every single month. I skipped some months last year and so this year, the goal is to not skip a month ever. To better track this I decided to just write down the amount I plan to invest with is 20%. The other 10% is saved on emergency fund anyways so you already have idea on my progress from above. So far I am on track with this goal. I invested a total of Php 20,000.
Blog Goals
Create a better "Archive" for the Blog. I was able to publish a new archive page for SavingsPinay last March. For May 2019, I worked in finding doing some little updates on the overall design of the blog. I don’t know if you notice but I have a new tagline, I help Filipinos bridge the financial literacy gap one content at a time. SavingsPinay really grew from a mere hobby to an advocacy now. Thank you for always reading my blog. But, I still have more things to do. Another archiving I wanted to do as a project this year is the “per topic” which was suggested during my 2018 Reader Survey. I am also including my other blog, IzzaGlinoFull, for this goal and I have yet started doing any progress on the said site.
$500 Adsense Income. Adding the amount I earned from January to May, I have $141.70 earned. I am supposed to be in at least the $200 mark now if I want to really hit my total Adsense income goal for 2019. But, I’m hoping for a miracle as soon as I am able to revive my YouTube channel and post new videos which will make June pretty busy.
Double My Total Published Content. The past four months have been very hard for the blog. I badly need to get my priorities straight and get back to regular posting. To be as realistic as what I can commit for now with the new role I have at work, I will only publish three new posts on my beauty and lifestyle blog. For this blog, I am still aiming the twice a week. Thank you again for bearing with me.
Personal Goals
Read 30 books. I have zero books read for the last three months – March, April and May which is a total bummer by the way. That’s why I really am aiming to get back to my routines and hopefully finish four new books for the month of June. Here’s my Goodreads 2019 Reading Challenge for the current status of this goal.
Hike again. I had my first hike for 2019! I had twin day hike experience at Mt. Manalmon and Mt. Gola with my highschool friends.
May 2019 Net Worth Update
Something that you will notice in my net worth update is that I separated my mutual fund accounts. I am currently invested in an Equity Fund and an Index Fund so I thought it would be nice to see them grow separately.
For the Investments what you are seeing are the net meaning the money I have invested so far. For the current market value as of May 5, 2019 here are the figures:
Stocks – ₱45,003.58
Equity Fund – ₱47,485.48
Index Fund – ₱27,566.58
Next Month's Plans
The fact that it’s June 2019 already is giving me anxiety attack. I have all these work, personal and blog/business goals set up for this year and the progress I made so far, is bad. I need the extra income fund moving. Like for real.
The MacBook Air is not just a luxury for me. I plan to use it to go back making YouTube videos. The iMovie editor is really great since I’ve been using a 27 inch iMac at work. I just have to make time filming, editing and publishing more in YouTube.
June please be good to me.
