Hi and welcome to a new recap and extra income report while working full-time, October 2018 Recap + Extra Income Report.
Every month I publish an in-depth report of my net-worth and extra income projects. I personally love reading income reports and I hope by doing this I inspire you to start side hustling too.
If you’re extra curious about my personal life you can go my other blog, IzzaGlino where I published my Goodbye October, Hello November 2018 post. It simply chronicles the highlights of my month complete with photos and short anecdotes.
A great start for you to know my outlook for this year would be the 2017 in Review I did.
Publishing my recap and extra income report monthly has always been for two main reasons:
1. To help myself stay on track with my finances and stay accountable to my goals and actions.
2. To encourage you and the others who are reading this post to pursue your passion and hustle.
October 2018 Recap
The month of October was spent working on deliverables at work. I needed to complete some major things before my scheduled mandatory leave. Thankfully, I did it and happy to spend my vacation not thinking about any unfinished work left behind.
Major events took place in October such as a Gear Up Leadership Seminar, 2018 Sports Fest and visiting Fantasy World in Lemery, Batangas.
November is my birth month and I’ll be celebrating my birthday in El Nido, Palawan! I am so excited for the new month to begin.
How was money for October 2018
I had major expenses in the month of October mainly because of the upcoming trip.
We bought a book tour for the 4 days and 3 nights trip in El Nido which costs Php 4,999 per person. This already includes the accommodation, breakfast and lunch, two island tours, van transfers and almost every important thing we need during the trip.
I find the price reasonable already considering that it will be a first time for all of us (I am accompanied by my elder sister, her boyfriend, and a friend) to go to Palawan.
Will definitely blog about the trip soon.
Another big expense for October is the plane ticket to Malaysia. Yep! I will be spending the last week of November in my second trip abroad. My eldest sister will be joining a marathon in Malaysia and she asked me to accompany her for support.
She promised to pay for the rest of the needs during the trip such as accommodation, food and transportation as long as I pay for my plane ticket, haha.
And since I have extra fund I did. I can’t believe I will be going to two international trips in one year.
Such a big leap from the Izza before who always say no to travel.
That’s it for October!
October 2018 Extra Income Report
For October 2018, I earned a total of Php 1264.05 extra income from blogging. The rest of my extra income projects – YouTube, Freelance Content Writing and Wedding Emcee were Php 0.
Blogging
The income I revealed above is the combined Google Adsense income I have from this blog and my other blog, IzzaGlinoFull.
I did a 4500+ word blog post about My First Google Adsense Payment Story to give you an idea what it takes to earn money on Google Adsense.

Below is/are the big win/s on my blog for this month.
1. 12K Monthly Viewers on Pinterest
Do you use Pinterest too?
I discovered Pinterest years ago and used to use it only to check outfit ideas, makeup items, skincare routines and more.
Now I’ve been using it for SavingsPinay and the return is so much better. I’m currently receiving 12,000 monthly pageviews on my Pinterest Account which is a lot from what I used to receive.
If you are a blogger and would like to grow your traffic through Pinterest, try Tailwind. I personally use Tailwind to schedule my pins in advance and get the said five digit monthly pageviews result.
2. Be part of SavingsPinay Facebook Page
I think the past two weeks of September has been the most active state of the SavingsPinay Facebook Page. I am happy for the people who appreciate the content that I post in the said platform and would like to invite you to like the page too.
Below are my must do’s related to blogging as the new month begins:
- Be at least one week ahead of blog posts. I’ve always wanted to get ahead of my blog schedule. I imagine getting ahead of at least one week of new blog posts will provide me a better work-life balance for September.
- Update 1 SavingsPinay Post a week. I badly need to update past posts in SavingsPinay to optimize and to add proper ads inside. I have been longing to do this ever since my Kuya from Olanap.com helped me insert ads within my blog posts. This move goes the same with my other blog, IzzaGlinoFull.com wherein I must re-publish a lot of content.
- Send out weekly Newsletter. The weekly newsletter is an essential part of my engagement to SavingsPinay readers. I don’t just send a snippet of a new blog post I published. I actually manage to write and send a helpful guide, insightful tips and personal story to my subscribers.
Of course I still have my email list if you still haven’t subscribed.
What do you get as part of my email list?
Access to the Resource Library where you can download freebies like workbooks, budget templates, money manifestos etc.
An exclusive email every week containing info and updates I only share to my subscribers. My first newsletter includes how my first three months investing in direct stock market went. And the response has been amazing.
October 2018 Blog Income Update
For October, I earned a total of $23.85 or Php 1,264.05.
Which is way lower than what I used to earn from the previous months.
I am still investigating what happened since my traffic didn’t change at all. I actually have more traffic than last month.
The good thing is that I still reached my Google Adsense threshold last month.
Seriously, after I earned my first $100 from Google AdSense, it became so much easier for me to reach my next payment threshold.
It took me almost four years to make money in Google AdSense and now I only need to wait 3-4 months.
This gives me so much hope that in near future I could earn $100 monthly, even more!
What did I do differently?
Owning my own domain and hosting made such a huge difference in my blog life.
That investment unlocked all the possibilities for monetization on my blog. For three long years I didn’t bother to have my own domain and web hosting.
October 2018 Blog Traffic Update
Another month where I hit 20,000 pageviews a month on SavingsPinay. Knowing that my blog is read or even visited 20,000 times is such a huge achievement for me.
You see, when I started SavingsPinay I never imagined it to be what it is today, a source of inspiration to others. Thank you for keeping this blog alive.
From 24,332 views last month I went up to 26,517.

October 2018 Net Worth Update
Below is the simple spreadsheet to show my October 2018 Net Worth:
Here are the details:
1. Extra Income – Php 9,904.11
As you know, how I organize my money is that the extra income I get from all of my side hustles pays for my “wants” such as travel.
So for the major expenses I had this October I used the money from my extra income fund to pay everything.
This is what’s good with having a side hustle, you get to enjoy opportunities that comes along your way without sacrificing much of your savings.

2. Savings Account – Php 48, 719.12
One of my goal this 2018 is to reach Php 60,000 savings and put it on a passbook account.
And since I only put 10% of my income in Emergency Fund I will definitely fail in this goal as well.
My action item is to put my bonuses in this account instead.
I really want to tick-off this goal so that by 2019 I can focus on investing my money more.

3. Stocks – Php 33,994.23
Stocks are better this month compared to last month. The Philippine stock market is still down and experts say it will continue to be down as the year ends.
Currently, I am at a loss by around Php 5000 already.
But I’ve said this before and I say it again, I continue to invest even if the stock market is failing.
I am investing for the long-term and I refrain to be swayed by my emotions easily.
This is the reason why you need to have proper savings first before making any investment. The market is like a big bubble, no one knows what’s going to happen in years to come.

4. Mutual Fund – Php 60,151.46
I’ve been investing in mutual fund since 2014.
For the first three years I experienced slow growth in my mutual fund earnings.
I even experienced a loss in my last update.
The current state of the Philippine stock market affected the market value of my mutual investment big time. I’m not happy at all looking at my portfolio.
From almost Php 9000 gain in January down to a negative. Undoubtedly, sad.
But then I’m keeping my investment intact.
Mutual Fund is a good parking lot for whatever savings I have so I will still believe that as the market goes up once again, the returns I have will return and even grow bigger.

5. FarmOn – Php 19,017.50
I already received my return for both the rice and squash investment I started in January 2018 and March 2018, respectively. I got around 11.9% ROI for each which is awesome.
From Php 17,000 net investment, it grew to Php 19,000 in six months.
What’s my crowdfunding plan now.
First, I wanted to do an update on the posts I made about online farming or crowdfunding. Most of the information from the post were outdated already.
Second, I want to keep my capital money including interest for now and reinvest once a new cycle that I like opened. I really wanted to invest in poultry products next like pig or chicken.

6. Receivables
I know my receivables is too much and I have to do something to decrease this and reinvest instead.
Both Receivable #1 and #2 are money owed to me.
Other Assets are combined value of items I own that has market value like aircon (I won on a raffle), LCD projector and gadgets like Ipad Mini and previous HP laptop.
7. Liabilities – Php 0.00
I currently don’t have any liabilities, debt or credit.
